Govt and educationists should promote e-learning on a priority basis and open new institutions all over the country.
KARACHI: Today, developed nations such as the UK and the US are making immense strides in online education. The availability of the Internet has made it possible for people to learn whatever they want to in the comfort of their homes. In Pakistan, however, e-learning has begun but at the pace of a tortoise. The illiteracy rate and the number of individuals who do not have access to education have made it mandatory for us to promote e-learning on a quick and fast basis. We should ensure that education reaches the masses so that it becomes a norm.
In rural areas today, parents do not send their children, especially girls, to remote areas for education. Such children can benefit from access to the Internet. Moreover, in this way, we can cut down the daily cost associated with attending classes on far-off campuses. In Pakistan, only a few institutes are providing e-learning for the time being. I would suggest that the government and the educationists should promote e-learning on a priority basis and open new institutions all over the country so that the literacy rate picks up, which will go a long way in lifting the masses out of poverty and pave the way for economic prosperity.
