Why can’t Karachi be administered by the federal government as the country’s second capital (or winter capital)?
KARACHI: This is with reference to Kamal Siddiqi’s article of February 10 titled “Driven to despair”. Adding to what the writer has said in the article, Karachi is also “the only city of its size” that is administered by a divisional commissioner. Delhi, with a population that is just two million more than Karachi’s, is a ‘state’, with a governor and a state assembly under the Union government.
Why can’t Karachi be administered by the federal government as the country’s second capital (or winter capital)? That would, at one stroke, solve its most acute problems.
