
If preserving family values means growing up, obeying your elders without questions, then I prefer Western values.
NIDDERAU, GERMANY: This is with reference to Juggun Kazim’s article of February 3 “Our fading family values”. If preserving family values means growing up and obeying your elders without any questions, then I prefer Western values where children can ask awkward questions and disagree with their elders.
That makes them more mature and independent. In the West, if sons and daughters see their parents after they have left their homes, it is because they love them and not because society does not accept anything else from them.
