State of inertia

Letter February 03, 2014
Its my humble opinion that current crop of political leadership in Pakistan is not equipped or able to manage affairs.

ABU DHABI: This is with reference to Saroop Ijaz’s article “Come back, Mr Prime Minister” (February 2). This is a brilliant piece by Mr Ijaz highlighting the lack of governance and state of inertia in the country. It is my humble opinion that the current crop of political leadership in Pakistan is not equipped or able enough to manage affairs in the current global context.

Our political leaders are used to being pampered on subsidies issued by multilateral agencies that were then passed on to their lackeys but those days are over and in today’s world, leadership is required to be efficient in managing local and global affairs and at the same time, be able to execute well-laid-out state plans. The current lot of leaders are acting like monkeys waiting to react based on other people’s action.
