I do not understand the reason behind our continuous reliance on expensive energy sources.
SHIKARPUR: Pakistan is rich in natural resources but poor in their management. Currently, fuel prices are sky-rocketing in the international market. Being a poor country, we are generating energy through expensive sources of fuel. Developed countries like the US, Germany, France and China are generating almost 60 per cent of their energy needs through renewable energy resources like solar, wind and hydel energy.
Pakistan also has various options for generating energy like installation of wind turbines at hilly and coastal areas. Similarly, we can also work on installation of solar panels. These are cheaper and pollution-free renewable sources.
I do not understand the reason behind our continuous reliance on expensive energy sources. We must utilise the money spent on expensive fuel in other important areas like education, industries and public development sectors, which will not only generate job opportunities but also bring prosperity to the country.
