Ban on pillion riding

Letter January 30, 2014
This ban has never borne fruit and is entirely unjust.

KARACHI: It has been made clear to us a number of times that we, the civilians, have no rights or freedom in our own city and country. Motorcycles are mainly used by the middle class in our country as it cannot bear the expenses of cars and the public transport has high fares. People using motorcycles often go to their offices and educational institutes by sharing rides.

But, as we have witnessed, now even the law is designed to suppress the middle class rather than stopping criminal activities. The ban on pillion riding will do nothing to control the crime rate. This ban has never borne fruit and is entirely unjust. I hope that the officials lift this ban as soon as possible and provide convenience to the taxpayers.
