If BCCI takes over control of ICC, there will not be an India versus Pakistan series unless India wants it.
CALIFORNIA, US: This is apropos the story “A selfish approach is not necessarily wrong: Raja” (January 28). I am sorry to say that many of the statements that Ramiz Raja makes often do not make any sense. He is wrong in this case as well where he is advocating that the Pakistan Cricket Board accept the proposal presented by the Big Three cricket boards, i.e., Cricket Australia (CA), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
How can Mr Raja say that Pakistan should let India, England and Australia take over the cricket world? This will only end up creating a situation where the boards of these three countries will treat the rest like colonial powers. Mr Raja wants the Pakistan Cricket Board to bargain for having regular India-Pakistan series in exchange for support on the Big Three proposal. If the Indian board takes over the control of the International Cricket Council along with the ECB and the CA, there will not be an India versus Pakistan series unless India wants it.
So far, I believe that Pakistan has taken the right steps in working with the South African, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh cricket boards. If the Big Three manage to form a monopoly over the ICC, it will be the end of cricket as we know it. Look at the way the Indian board recently treated South Africa. We do not need imperial powers again.
