I wonder why lawlessness, dictatorships and killings of innocent people are so common in the Muslim world.
NIDDERAU, GERMANY: This is with reference to the article by Sabina Khan “The Syria imbroglio” (January 27). Syria is one of the many countries of the world where the rule of law is lacking. In recent weeks, we have seen a ghastly roll call of terror attacks in the obvious places: Syria, Libya, Iraq and Lebanon, as well as Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia and Pakistan.
The fact is that though, of course, there are individual grievances or reasons for the violence in each of these countries, there is one thing self-evidently in common: all these countries are predominantly Muslim. I wonder why lawlessness, dictatorships and killings of innocent people are so common in the Muslim world. I wish I knew the answer.
