Pakistan-US relations will only move forward if one only differs on pace of development of relationship, not direction
HYDERABAD: It is but natural that the Pakistan-US relationship be mutually beneficial for both countries, not only for the sake of maintaining a healthy relationship, but also for the sake of much-needed regional stabilisation of this disturbed part of the world. The Honourable Representative Mr James Dobbins rightly points out that “we should not limit ourselves to this channel. This is not just the work of government officials, but also of businessmen, academics and private citizens.”
In order for this to happen, I think the US should become even more forthcoming because things like visa issuance, granting of scholarships, building goodwill, establishing relations between chambers of commerce in both countries, etc. are as important, if not more, as financial or military assistance.
Pakistan-US relations will only move forward in the coming years if one only differs on the pace of the development of the relationship but not its direction.
