KARACHI: Anwer Mooraj’s article “Will democracy survive?” (October 21) highlights some important issues. Democracy will survive provided our countrymen prefer the national interest over their personal interest. Pakistan is facing a lot of problems but these can be overcome provided the judiciary is independent and our members of parliament stop running after money and concentrate on law-making. The top priority should be to improve the law and order situation and this means going after all those who are involved in terrorist acts. This should be done irrespective of the political affiliations of those involved in the killings. Along with this, we need to provide quality education to our younger generation.
