To the nation of Pakistan, soldiers dying on the battlefield matter more than these defence analysts.
PESHAWAR: This is with reference to Saroop Ijaz’s article titled “Defence by Intimidation” (January 23). I am surprised to see so many learned people defending a dictator and raising his stature to be an embodiment of the collective will of the military.
Did General (retd) Pervez Musharraf consult or have the consent or mandate of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers of the armed forces when he was on his rampage, destroying democratic and judicial institutions? A handful of retired military officers and defence analysts feeling disturbed with his fate does not represent the will of the whole of the military. To the nation of Pakistan, soldiers dying on the battlefield matter more than these defence analysts.
