We have to review many norms and values we impart to children in our homes unaware of their ethical aspects.
MONTREAL: This is with reference to Dr Madiha Afzal’s article “A failed curriculum reform” (January 16). The writer is right when she states that the chances of curricular reform by the current government are “close to zero”. It, however, needs pointing out that mere curricular changes will not go a long way in creating an enlightened and tolerant society.
The reformatory project has to be of a much wider scope. We have to review many norms and values we impart to children in our homes unaware of their ethical aspects. We have to transform the role of clerics in our society and end their monopoly over interpreting religion. We need to critically examine the illusions, delusions and megalomaniacal fantasies, which are fed to the people by our mass media.
