Problem with Massive Open Online Courses is that they are generally a grossly simplified distance educational model.
SYDNEY: This is apropos Dr Javaid Laghari’s article “Can online learning help Pakistan?” (January 10). This was a good article. However, the problem with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) is that they are generally a grossly simplified distance educational model.
They are often poorly thought out, poorly designed, poorly marketed, poorly targeted at the correct group of students, poorly assessed and sometimes offer no real qualifications. What is needed is building good distance education models, not MOOCs.
