TORONTO: This is with reference to the article by Dr Manzur Ejaz and Waris Husain of January 10 titled “Waris Shah and society”. This article brings a direly needed reminder of the social change that has been advocated by Sufi poets. Dr Ejaz and Mr Husain are voices of sanity in this time of religious fanaticism and bury-your-head- in-the-sand politics.
Our thoughts are frozen in an imaginary past but society is changing fast, driven by the inexorable logic of economics and technological forces. We need to keep pace with these changes.
