Addressing climate change has important implications for poverty reduction, equality and human rights.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been exposed to weather-induced challenges of late. Climate change is a key emerging factor, with adverse effects on the ecological, social and economic fabric of society. Therefore, addressing climate change has important implications for poverty reduction, equality and human rights. The various impacts of climate change may well have a dampening effect on our economic growth, adversely affecting prospects for achieving national development and Millennium Development Goal targets. Nothing is being done in this country at any level to tackle the adverse effects of climate change.
Is there anyone who can wake up our rulers, bureaucrats and technocrats to devise a strategy to fight climate change in the country, a country with rich resources but no planning at all?
