KARACHI: The situation highlighted by Marvi Memon in her article “Being a Hindu in Pakistan” (October 20) made me feel ashamed and sad. Remember the time when Jinnah saved a number of Hindus from a Muslim mob and referred to himself as the ‘Protector General’ of Hindus? Gone are those days. The finest general Pakistan ever had was Iftikhar Janjua, an Ahmadi himself, who vowed to shoot down anyone who hurt Hindus after a mob had come to him saying they will be hunting Hindus down during the partition era.
Such was the brilliance of these men who are all but names in our history now. If only Pakistan could produce leaders like this again.
