Problem in this society is not a widening gulf between the religious and secular, but of ignorance and intolerance.
WASHINGTON, US: This is apropos “Islands in the Sands” by Ayesha Siddiqa published in The Express Tribune on January 9. The problem in this society is not a widening gulf between the religious and the secular (which is indeed happening as a symptom), but of ignorance and intolerance, which is widespread in both the above mentioned. Until we educate people and overcome this hurdle, society will continue to see this divide and similar incidents.
Ignorance has resulted not only in religious fanatics, but liberal fascists in this country are also increasing rather than moving towards finding common points towards reconciliation and understanding and in making a unified, goal oriented society.
