If there is no political gain to be made by guaranteeing people human rights, no one steps forward or condemns abuses.
EDMONTON, CANADA: As far as I have seen and observed, the question of human rights is used as a political agenda and it differs with the interests of major powers. Where the major powers have interests, our leaders will sing to their tunes in chorus on major television channels, radio channels and newspapers.
If there is no political gain to be made by guaranteeing people their human rights — such as in the case of Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims — no one steps forward or even condemns the abuse of human rights.
