I request president and prime minister to announce the country’s highest civil award for the retired chief justice.
ISLAMABAD: Since the retirement of former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, some people have been doing their utmost to tarnish the name of this great personality of Pakistan. He not only brought hope for the poor but also brought back billions to the exchequer. He stood against a military dictator and came out the winner. And he also took on the encroachment mafia that is found in Islamabad on CDA land.
To all those who are speaking ill of the retired chief justice, I will say that he will always be a hero for the masses. I had the opportunity to attend a Supreme Court case that lasted from February to October 2013 and saw Justice (retd) Chaudhry to be an upright, fair, soft and humble man. I request the president and the prime minister to announce the country’s highest civil award for the retired chief justice.
