Education in Sindh

Letter December 17, 2013
Standard of education in the province has declined and become worse than that of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

SHIKARPUR: At the dawn of independence, Sindh had the highest literacy rate amongst all provinces in Pakistan. Sadly, with the passage of time, education has lost its past glory and prestige in Sindh. The current situation of education in Sindh is lamentable and according to some reports, the standard of education in the province has declined and become worse than that of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, which, a decade ago, was far behind in this field.

Unfortunately, the third-time elected chief minister of Sindh has neither listed improving educational standards among his priorities nor has he visited any school to apprise himself of the situation. I urge him to do the needful.
