NIDDERAU, GERMANY: This is apropos Chris Cork’s article “Mandela passes” (December 12). While Nelson Mandela was a great man, his greatness lay in forgiving those who tortured him. He was also a very modest man, as he once famously said, “I am not a saint. I am a sinner who keeps on trying.”
