FAISALABAD: Despite having many advantages, the internet has been misused to create ethnic differences and spread extremism. Just to get more ‘likes’ and ‘shares’, people often post stuff that stratifies society. People often share stuff on the internet that amuses them, while ignoring its impact on society. Moreover, extremist elements often get their point across through the internet. The best way to address the situation is to educate the media audience. 3G technology can serve Pakistan only if its users know its pros and cons. Besides educating the people, the government should install internet filtering mechanisms, along with introducing rules for internet users. It should keep an eye on the activities of users and punish violators to control polarisation in society.
