Removing the NADRA chairman

Letter December 05, 2013
Such tactics were employed by previous regimes as well, I do not expect any thing different from present one either.

SYDNEY: This is with reference to the editorial “Rule of thumb” (December 6) regarding the removal of NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik from his post, allegedly for insisting on voter verification in NA-118.

Such tactics were employed by previous regimes as well and I do not expect any thing different from the present one either. Once in power, our politicians resort to all kinds of power manipulations. This also gives us the answer as to why the only disciplined institution has to ultimately intervene in such scenarios. This kind of power play will undoubtedly continue for the foreseeable future. Someone should tell our leaders that they need to make civilian institutions strong for their own survival. Please do not move towards another dictatorship through such arbitrary actions.
