ISLAMABAD: This is in response to the story “PTI amasses thousands in anti-drone sit-in” published in The Express Tribune on November 24. Recently, workers of PTI protested in Peshawar and established checkpoints at different points in order to pressure the US to halt drone strikes. I was shocked to see the footage in which PTI workers were checking every truck forcibly for Nato supplies. Who has given them this mandate and authority or are they above the law of the land? As usual, the authorities concerned are sleeping without fearing the end results of such episodes. I think remonstrating against any unlawful thing is right, but taking charge in the name of protest is illegal and should be condemned by everyone. Everything is possible in our country but such acts are not in line with national interest. Moreover, mere point scoring will not do any good to the country. The decision to block Nato supplies is the prerogative of the federal government and the provincial governments should follow the decision of the federation in order to avert any collusion with state authorities. It’s very challenging for the state as time is very crucial, so our leader should not behave illogically.
