Traffic jams

LAHORE: I wish to draw the attention of the authorities concerned and the general public towards the haphazard parking on Jail Road in front of Kinnaird College, Lahore. There are hundreds of cars, vans and auto rickshaws parked on the road. This sabotages the flow of the traffic, as well as the façade of the university. There are only a couple of traffic wardens to cope with the traffic jam that occurs every day during the peak hours. It takes almost half an hour to get out of the traffic jam every day.

The government has barricaded the roads leading to the houses of high profile individuals, but nothing has been done for the comfort of thousands of girls who attend the college daily. The Punjab chief minister has always said that we need educated youth for a better tomorrow. But sir, how can we be at our best when we have to go through a metaphoric ‘nerve-breaking hell’ every day for at least an hour? Please save us our precious time so we can do some productive work and prepare ourselves for a better tomorrow to serve the nation. I hope our grievances will be rectified soon.
