Fact is that other teams are better and it is obvious that best effort of Pakistani players is not good enough.
NIDDERAU GERMANY: This is in response to Bilal Memon’s article “No silver lining for Pakistan cricket” (November 17). If there is one thing that unites all Pakistanis, it is cricket and I can see the disappointment on so many faces when the national team loses. But when the writer says: “The national squad finds new and innovative ways to let down fans”, that is going too far. The fact is that other teams are better and it is obvious that the best effort of the Pakistani players is not good enough to beat the others. And South Africa is a very good team. I personally admire how they play. The team includes all races and has the likes of Hashim Amla and ex-Pakistani Imran Tahir, who contribute to South Africa’s success. Personally, I support South Africa just like I support Pakistan.
Despite all that has happened, I feel that things will improve for Pakistan. They need matches in Pakistan to feel ‘at home’. It is a shame that terrorism has made it impossible for other teams to contemplate playing on our home turf. Therefore, putting the blame on Najam Sethi is not justified; he has limited choices.
