Dr Saif seems to have done some wonderful work and I have been hearing fantastic stories about the PITB.
NEW YORK: This is apropos of Dr Umar Saif’s article “Punjab’s model of m-governance” (November 13). Reading through the effort that the writer and his team have put in improving the governance in Punjab, it is quite clear that this is what happens when a world class innovator is put in the right place. Dr Saif seems to have done some wonderful work and I have been hearing fantastic stories about the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
I saw a story about the PITB’s plans on CNN here in the US and read the stories on BBC, NPR, Economist and MIT Technology Review. It is very heartening to see such work going on in Pakistan. This gives a lot of us hope, of one day returning to a prosperous Pakistan.
