Creating delusional minds

Letter November 13, 2013
For me, the core reason for our current plight is the neglect of humanities, the liberal arts and the social sciences.

ISLAMABAD: This is apropos Fahd Hussain’s piece of November 10 “Our wonderful world of delusions”. The extent to which our society has rotted is highly depressing. Our people seem to have become obsessive compulsive liars. They know they are lying but they will convince themselves that they are not.

For me, the core reason for our current plight is the neglect of humanities, the liberal arts and the social sciences. Most of our population has not had any formal education and those who have had it, are only being given technical education. Creating doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc. without a focus on the social sciences and humanities will create more delusional, extremist minds and the impact will be catastrophic.
