It seems that many in Pakistan have still not learned anything from the experience of East Pakistan.
WOODSTOCK, MARYLAND, USA: This is with reference to the Saroop Ijaz’s piece “Tearing Down Walls” (November 10). The Baloch are not asking for handouts from the state; rather they want their share of their resources that they believe have been stolen by the centre.
We are not trying to impose our values and way of life on the rest of Pakistan. Rather, we want to be equal partners in this federation. It seems that many in Pakistan have still not learned anything from the experience of East Pakistan. Unless the Pakistani state changes its views about how the Balochistan issue is to be handled, there will be no improvement in the state of affairs of the province.
