The history and traditions of religion are a very important part of our lives.
KARACHI: I liked reading the article by Aurangzeb Haneef titled “Engaging with religion and the religious” (November 7). Pakistani Muslims are fast getting divided into two groups, those who want nothing to do with ‘mullahs’ and those following the version of religion that the ‘mullah’ subscribes to.
I totally agree with the writer when he states that all ‘mullahs’ are not irrational about the interpretation of religion. If this country was established as a country for Muslims, then we have to engage with mullahs, understand their interpretation, learn from them and in the process, make them understand the point of view that may not agree with their views because pure secularisation of society is not going to work in Muslim countries, since the majority of Pakistani Muslims are moderate Muslims. The history and traditions of religion are a very important part of our lives.
