LAHORE: This is with reference to Dr Azhar Hassan Nadeem’s article of November 5 “Setting up an antiterrorist force — strategy and design.” The writer has come up with a pragmatic solution to the problem of combating terrorism. He has also alluded to the potential capability of the elite force being set up in Punjab for this purpose, as well as the potential that there is for its misuse, as there is always the chance that this force will be used to perform irrelevant, frivolous duties.
Dr Nadeem is also right when he questions the hefty salaries and perks that this force will be compensated with, given the chance that we may well see its personnel running around on the roads of Lahore tailing cavalcades of VIPs instead of doing the job that they are paid for.
