I would not be surprised if the commenters are on the payroll of the Indian government.
TOPEKA, KANSAS, USA: This is in response to Kamran Shafi’s article “The utter madness of it all” (November 1). I appreciate the writer’s thoughts and his cajoling officers of the two armies to meet regularly, in order to minimise the threat of annihilation of each other’s states. That said, I am no right-winger, I am as liberal as they come and believe in peaceful coexistence but one should never forget history.
Can we forget what had happened in the region then known as East Pakistan? What right did India have to intervene on behalf of those who were not happy in the union with Pakistan? If you ever read the nasty comments being posted by Indians on our newspaper websites every day, you will know that their words reflect their thinking. I, for one, was in favour of normalising relations with India but I have changed my mind thanks to these nasty comments. I would not be surprised if the commenters are on the payroll of the Indian government.
