KARACHI: I am a 76-year-old retired air force officer. I was allotted a 1,000 square yard plot by the Defence Housing Authority in 1964. With great financial difficulty I managed to construct a house on this plot but due to wear and tear over the years the house is now in poor condition. I cannot afford to have it repaired. While levying the flood tax, the government seems to have overlooked certain ground realities. People like me who live on a meagre pension and some savings cannot afford to pay Rs100,000 towards flood tax. And why should we?
