Water-soluble roads

Letter October 25, 2013
The PM said that he ‘spoke’ about the drones and Aafia Siddqui but what is the ‘outcome’? Nothing.

RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to the article “Water-soluble roads; and consciences” (October 25) which I read with great interest, being an ex-army officer myself. It mentioned Mr Kamran Shafi’s posting in the rugged areas of Balochistan and his travels on the so-called ‘RCD highway’.

So far so good, but then he ended the narrative abruptly and switched over to his usual bashing of senior politicians and eulogising PM Nawaz Sharif. What he has written about the “acceptance” of a “democratically elected” PM by US President Barack Obama has been severely negated on the front page of the newspaper which points out that the issue of drone strikes is found missing from the joint communique. The PM said that he ‘spoke’ about the drones and Aafia Siddqui but what is the ‘outcome’? Nothing.
