America bashing

Letter October 22, 2013
It is wrong to blame others for hatching conspiracies, when we ourselves allowed greed of few to override security.

PESHAWAR: With reference to all the ‘America bashing’ campaigns by religious parties and our political opposition that one hears about, it is time we set our own house in order and stop blaming others when, in fact, we ourselves are responsible for inviting foreign interference in local matters. When we allow state policies to become slave to the greed of individuals, selfish ambitions or for holding on to power, then national interests are likely to be jeopardised.

We ourselves are responsible for the havoc, death and destruction of millions of innocent Pakistanis who are now becoming collateral damage. America will do all it has to achieve its global strategic interests because that is its primary and only objective. If our bureaucracy, or our government, owed their singular loyalty to what actually constitutes our genuine national and security interests, Pakistan would not have been in the mess that it is in today. We are responsible for opening our borders to foreign mercenaries, for allowing our citizens to be exploited in the name of religion, for nominating ambassadors who hold dual nationalities to represent us in foreign countries, for our economic plans and long-term policies. It is wrong to blame others for hatching conspiracies, when we ourselves allowed greed of the few to override the security and lives of millions of innocent citizens.
