With an attitude of the kind being displayed by Whatmore, he should not be heading the Pakistan camp.
WASHINGTON: This is with reference to the story “Winning second Test not a priority for Whatmore” (October 21). With an attitude of the kind being displayed by Pakistan cricket team’s coach, Dav Whatmore, he should not be heading the Pakistan camp. If you go in to a game with a defeatist attitude, how will the team learn to believe in itself?
Instead of laying a trap for the South Africans with strategy and thought, he seems to be trying to lay seeds of doubt in his underdog team. With the statement that he has made, that winning 1-0 against South Africa is just as good as winning 2-0, he has clearly indicated that he is the wrong material to be Pakistan’s coach and should have gone last year.
