Overhead pedestrian crossings

Letter October 14, 2013
Instead of using such a facility constructed by the government on Murree Road, people have broken the grill.

ISLAMABAD: The people of Pakistan are usually inconsistent in their words and deeds. Everyone yearns for the rule of law but in practice, makes a mockery of law by defying it themselves. Motorists hardly ever follow traffic rules. And as for pedestrians, they, too, do not follow any regulation. For instance, the Punjab government and the Capital Development Authority have constructed many overhead crossings for pedestrians but these are hardly used by them.

Instead of using such a facility constructed by the government on Murree Road, people have broken the grill installed between the double roads and use that to cross the road — a clear traffic and safety hazard.
