There are score of other Malalas who suffer torture each day, going to and from their schools.
RAWALPINDI: Malala Yousufzai has been portrayed in the national and international media as a beacon of women’s education, a challenge to the Taliban and three cheers for her courage. But there is no media focus on the teacher who was killed in a burning van in Gujrat while trying to save schoolchildren travelling in it. The media has not even told what her name was. No award, no laurels for her.
There are score of other Malalas who suffer torture each day, going to and from their schools. The Malalas who go on foot to their schools are followed by predators, right to the doors of their homes. In our adulation of Malala Yousufzai, we shed no tears for Aafia Siddiqui.
