There can be no change in Pakistan, as we tend to live our lives as victims.
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, US: This is in reference to the news story “Switching gears: Sherry Rehman found her calling for change” (October 12). There can be no change in Pakistan, as we tend to live our lives as victims. Ms Rehman and company may have had the best of intentions but a basic ingredient is missing here: we don’t want change. We moan and groan, we grumble and get frustrated, but do we ever take ownership of our responsibilities or actions? We are entrenched in old customs where corruption is the way of life and our productivity only matters when we work for foreigners. We are dipped in conspiracy theories and find it easier to play the blame game, but all the while, we ignore the basic truths.
