LAHORE: Whatever the charges against Dr Aafia, the punishment given to her is unfair and excessive. Yet all the liberals who feed on cash injections from the US dare not write against them. I agree that Dr Aafia seems to be involved in some activities with extremist elements. However, these were not the charges for which she was sentenced for 86 long years. Human rights activists and NGOs need to protest against human right violations against any Pakistani citizen. Dr Aafia might be guilty of aiding the extremists but were her children also guilty? I only ask because they were also held captive.
