HYDERABAD: Two separate shocking incidents of sexual abuse have been reported recently from around the region where I live. One was in the village of Mitho Khoso in Sanghar district where a 12-year-old boy was sexually abused by three persons in front of the boy’s father. The second involved a 10-year-old girl in Dadu, who was kidnapped and raped, and then left in front of her house in a state of unconsciousness.
Something needs to be done about this. As members of civil society we can all play a pivotal role for human rights protection and promotion. We should try and raise our voices to speak up for the rights of the abused and especially those who belong to society’s vulnerable segments, such as women and children.
