Will our local imams listen to us? (II)

Letter October 03, 2013
If they give sermons, which incite violence, they are arrested, tried and jailed if found guilty.

NEW YORK: In Turkey, imams are strictly controlled. Only state-licensed imams are allowed to practise. If they give sermons, which incite violence, they are arrested, tried and jailed if found guilty. Also, foreign countries are not allowed to fund madrassas in Turkey. External elements are forbidden from interfering in the religious affairs of the Turkish state, unlike what we see happening in Pakistan. Turkey is definitely a country we can learn from.
