ISLAMABAD: It would be a pity if the Oscar jury fails to appreciate the nuances of Zinda Bhaag’s cleverly conceived script as Arshad Khan predicts in his article of October 1 “Zinda Bhaag — ushering in a new era for Pakistani cinema”. A greater misfortune would be if cinema enthusiasts in Pakistan miss this bold and artistic film. The extraordinary talent of co-directors Farjad Nabi and Meera Gaur has helped each character — lead, supporting or cameo — claim an important niche in the story. The film’s narrative of frustrations endured by the young in Pakistan is weaved with restrained subtlety and intelligent humour. This film is definitely a must watch.
