Hand it to the people of Pakistan

Letter September 29, 2013
What our leaders need to realise is that there is more out there than just the spoils of office.

KARACHI: We have to hand it to the people of Pakistan for the level of patience and tolerance they have demonstrated through the years as government upon government has ruled with utmost incompetence. As unlikely as it may be, they still wait in the hope of a better tomorrow. At present one may not be able to regard a single major factor at the macro level that is worth feeling happy about: the acute energy crisis, chronic water shortage, deteriorating law and order, terrorism, corruption, inflation, delayed justice and so on.

What our leaders need to realise is that there is more out there than just the spoils of office. They need to remind themselves of their moral obligations to the people of Pakistan who by electing them have given them the right to make decisions that impact everyone’s lives.
