What needs to be made clear here is that Islam does not allow one to beat his wife under any circumstances.
BALTIMORE, MD, US: A recent news article “Man beats wife to death over arranged marriage” (October 4) reported a Pakistani father in Italy who beat his wife to death for opposing their daughter’s proposed, arranged — marriage. The man’s son also beat his sister, the one whose marriage was being planned, though she was lucky to survive.
If the family could not embrace and integrate into the local culture of Italy then they should not have moved there. What needs to be made clear here is that Islam does not allow one to beat his wife under any circumstances, let alone kill her. His actions were by no means Islamic. His actions have only given the western media and the people there a chance to malign Islam.
