Karachi’s resilience

Letter August 25, 2013
The all-permeating violence afflicting Karachi kills this city every day.

KARACHI: This is with reference to Arsla Jawaid’s article “Karachi’s dwindling resilience” (August 22). What the writer has stated is true, although at the same time, it is quite troubling, too. The all-permeating violence afflicting Karachi kills this city every day, yet the people remain resilient. But even resilience has its breaking point.

The government needs to wake up, no matter how brave the people of Karachi claim to be. Citizens would never have to show how resilient they are if they are governed by an accountable, transparent and committed government.
