It is unfortunate the prime minister blamed everyone for the shortcomings but failed to give any concrete solutions
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s first address to the nation after coming to power for the third time was not too impressive in my opinion. One thought that he will take the nation into confidence about the crises Pakistan is faced with. He talked about the energy crisis, terrorism, Balochistan, lack of transparency and the inefficiency of people tasked with dealing with grave problems. He narrated the issues and accused the governments of the last 14 years of having given rise to them.
It is unfortunate that the prime minister, throughout his address, blamed everyone for the shortcomings but failed to give any concrete solutions to overcome these problems. He seems to want to talk to those who do not believe in the Constitution of Pakistan and have killed nearly 40,000 innocent men, women and children, bombed schools and religious places and shot Malala Yousufzai just because she was campaigning for girls’ education.
Balochistan has been without a cabinet even after nearly two and a half months of the government forming there. There seems to be lack of transparency as far as the Nandipur power project is concerned.
One just hopes that along with the flowery words that the prime minister used, his actions show some substance, too, in the future.
