Why does this government always have to select people – a la Ijaz Butt – who excel in foolishness?
LAHORE: This is with reference to the editorial “A fool and his flag” (October 6). Why does this government always have to select people – a la Ijaz Butt – who excel in foolishness and do the most embarrassing things when visiting a foreign country? Common sense should have prevailed upon our chef de mission and he should have realised that it is the prerogative of a prominent sportsman or sportswoman to carry the country’s flag at such a ceremony. Perhaps common sense is too rare a commodity with these cronies, who don’t really care about the country. These politicians should be assessed for their capabilities to carry out the task assigned when on foreign tours and save Pakistan from being ridiculed.
