Despite lapse of 2 months, PM still has not had time to address the nation, present before it his vision, future plan.
RAWALPINDI: This is with reference to your article of Aug 12 titled “Time for results: End of the honeymoon, time to deliver”. The fact of the matter is that the PML-N government seems to be totally confused. It seems not to have done any homework to tackle various pressing challenges facing the nation. Despite a lapse of two months, the prime minister still has not had the time to address the nation and present before it his vision and future plan to tackle national issues. He has not visited Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa or Balochistan, both of them under the grip of terrorism. He only made a brief visit to Sindh, sending a clear message to all and sundry that this was a Lahore-centric government.
The past record of the PML-N suggests that the party thinks raising prices is the solution to solving all economic problems. Consider, for example, the new government’s power policy, which seems to be resting on an unprecedented increase in the power tariff. Instead of asking the white elephants to cut their losses, the government seems to be taking the easy way out, by simply increasing the burden on citizens who already pay exorbitant amounts in electricity bills every month.
I recently had the chance to visit my son who lives in the UK. The nation makes best use of daylight. Most shops and businesses start their activities around seven or eight in the morning and end by six or seven in the evening. We have failed to do this, because we are unable to take a decision on how to maximise the use of daylight, which is found in abundant quantity in Pakistan. The waste of electricity in our non-productive government offices also plays havoc and we don’t find any solutions for this either.
