Flag fiasco in Delhi (III)

Letter October 05, 2010
It is good to see that the PM has taken note of the issue. At the very least, Mr Shah should apologise to the nation.

KARACHI: Why was the Sindh sports minister so hell-bent on holding the flag during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi? Could he not understand that it was not his right but rather that of an athlete, and in this case an athlete who had done us proud.

Now Mr Shah is saying that he has done nothing wrong and that it was a small matter. May I ask him that if he was selected for holding the flag – as he now claims he was – why was Shuja Malik’s name displayed in the live telecast? It is good to see that the prime minister has taken note of the issue. At the very least, Mr Shah should apologise to the nation.
